Small businesses deserve your support

Supporting small businesses are great things that more people should buy from. It is very easy to go along and buy from big businesses, but a bigger impact can be made by supporting small businesses. By supporting a small business, not only benefits the business owner and customer, but there are also great advantages to the community.

People with small businesses do not get enough recognition for their work. Starting a small business usually just starts with a person who has an idea or a passion for creating a product. That may sound simple, but when they start, they don’t have a lot, to begin with. They are the ones to purchase all the materials they need, research, and keep trying again until they create the perfect product to sell.

Creating a business takes a lot of dedication, time, and patience. About 33% of small business owners work up to 50 hours a week, compared to the large business workers who work around 40 hours a week. I’m sure it is all worth the extra hours to the owner, and I think the least we can do is appreciate and support their work.

A great thing about small businesses is that they provide jobs to people in the community or others around the world, depending on where you purchase items from. Over the past 17 years, 77 million people in the US were employed by small businesses. This is great because they are providing new jobs to people who may need one.

Not only do small businesses provide jobs, but they benefit communities. When a customer spends up to $100 at a small business, $68 will stay within the local community. Also, business owners themself commonly give back by donating to non-profit organizations. This is amazing because it shows they care and are willing to give back.

Many businesses have been negatively affected by Covid-19. Up to 40% of small businesses got shut down, and in general, around 14 million people were unemployed. For a business owner, this is a struggle to come back from, and many people are still in need of a job, so supporting any small business right now would be very appreciated. Plus, it’s nice to know you are helping out.

We should all try more often to purchase from small businesses. Purchasing from a small business is a great deed for the business and people in the community. As a customer, you’ll know that the business really cares about providing you with the best.
