Fire alarm

The fire alarm at Gunderson was pulled illegally twice in one week, both times during lunch. The first occurrence was on September 18 and the second on September 20.

By the time the second alarm was pulled everyone assumed it was fake.

The suspect has not been identified at the time of publication. Principal Mark Camilleri has not released any names, but he has confirmed that if this continues to happen, the school will start taking “more proactive measurements to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

There are many possible consequences for pulling a fire alarm if there is not an emergency. According to California Penal Code Section 148.4, “any individual who willfully tampers with a fire alarm apparatus or transmits any false sense of a fire is punishable by imprisonment in the county jail for a year or less, and or by a fine less than $1,000” or, on a school campus, getting suspended.

If you have any information about who is pulling the fire alarms please do not hesitate to contact Principal Camilleri at [email protected] or our AP of Discipline Mr. Sean Gardere at [email protected].
