Ms. Roselman updates about French Society

Liam Kirk, Staff Writer

Liz Roselman, the French teacher at Gunderson High School, is also the current advisor for the French Society.

The French Society is a club that explores the music, art, traditions, and culture of France.  Ms. Roselman also informs about upcoming events that the French Society has planned.

Ms. Roselman elaborated on how this year she would like the members of the club to focus on French art and high culture. High culture is the aesthetic products created by a society that exemplifies artistic, literary, historical, and philosophical value. In this case, specifically in France.

“Knowledge is power… The more you know, the more opportunities you have,” Ms. Roselman said about why she thinks teaching French society and culture is important. “We can learn from [other cultures].”

French Society will be holding fundraisers throughout the year including one during the month of February where members will create Valentine’s Day cards and sell them. Along with projects and activities, food is also incorporated into almost every meeting. Ms. Roselman is enthusiastic about new students joining and is excited to work with this year’s French enthusiasts.
