English and history department updates

Delaney Hopp, Staff Writer

The English and history departments have gone through some changes this year.

The history department has gotten rid of AP World History. There is now an Accelerated World History instead. It uses the same skills and textbook, but the class has less work. The accelerated world history class makes it easier for sophomores to prepare for AP US history.

The English department is budgeting to allow instructors to use more novels in their lesson plans. Sylvia Dyal, the co-head of the English department mentioned that Principal Marc Camilleri and NMSI are making the budget for novel purchases. The new novels, if they are purchased, will update the canon with more relevant topics.
